Questions and How To

I have tried a couple of times to add a picture to my blog post, and it doesn't seem to work. How should I do that?

Just wait for it

In the still, dark moments just as dawn breaks one can hear the sounds of Mother Earth and her children waking up to bring another day. In the warm and sunny months, those first sounds are of songbirds merrily singing glory to the rising sun. From nests, treetops, rooftops, power lines, and fence posts, they conduct the Hallelujah Chorus to their own, loudly; happily; without regard to human presence. In the cold, gray, and gloomy winter months, those early awakening sounds are more human in nat… Continue

Spring cannot be far behind

It's the winter solstice. The days will now begin to lengthen. The incessant darkness will begin to subside; slowly, but minute by minute, day by day, the circadian rhythm will begin to return to power. Melatonin and serotonin levels will even out and the seasonal affective disorder will start to fade. Joy will no longer be a fleeting moment here and there. Happiness and peace will reign. Daylight. Sunshine. Life. Spring cannot be far behind.

Multi tasking

It's a wonderful clear night. No howling banshee wind. The air is crisp and clean without being unmercifully cold. The night sky is a beautiful inky blue with the tiniest sliver of a silver moon shining so brightly that if you look really hard, you can see the whole magnificent orb through the shadow of the earth. It's mind numbing gorgeous. I have multi-tasking to do. Baking cakes, making candy, roasting pork for tamales, listening to music that… Continue

Frenzy

All is quiet. The howling banshee that is the winter wind has retreated for the time being. It seems odd to sit here this early morning and hear..................nothing. The frigid air went with the banshee wind so the temperature this fine morning is a balmy 35F! The piled and drifted mounds of dirty, icy snow have begun to recede and life is good. Perhaps I can crawl out of my self-imposed cocoon of denial and get some Christmas joy stirred up now. I dreamed a new recipe last night, and found… Continue

A sweet sassy child who will still say "yes Ma'am?" instead of "what?"

Chocolate ice cream, a happy visiting dog, and two sleeping cats. Life doesn't get much simpler than that.

Where do I find grace today? I may have to resort to hunting and gathering to get beyond the deep sorrow I am feeling.

I find it odd that my children are so much alike, yet so different. When my daughter is happy, I rarely hear from her. When she is distraught, she may call me 2 or 3 times a day. When my son is happy, or at least ready to pursue happiness, he calls me regularly. When things are not so good, I never hear from him. Right now, I rarely hear from my daughter, and that's a good thing. I hear from my son almost daily, and that's also a good thing. The same, but different.

It doesn't take a lot of self discipline to go to Curves. I go with my sister after work, so she is like my Hitler Work out instructor. I can't get out of it, and we actually have a lot of fun. So if you have someone that will go with you its a plus, but you meet interesting women there its a hoot.

I understand what you mean. I'm a bit obnoxious..well confident at work and when I goof around, but inately I am very introverted as well....yes find someone to go with you, and it will be fun I promise.
Me and my sister tell ourselves we will not go less than 12Xs in a month. we've stuck to that since April.

It's the old addage: no news is good news. But then again I like hearing the good news and always shudder when hearing the bad. Having my daughters out of state makes them more accountable for their actions, since there's nothing I can do from so far away (one in Oregon, one in Delaware, I'm in California). I think if they were still local I'd be dragged into their problems alot more.
