What am I grateful for today, you ask?
Well, I'll tell you--

1. I had a nice chat on the phone with my mom, mostly about my nephew's soon-to-be halloween costume ( a puppy-- as he has demanded), and our thoughts on the most recent Project Runway elimination (we think they axed the wrong guy.)

I am not feeling graceful.
Bloated, woozy, borderline bitchy, perhaps.
But I'm still glad to be alive.

Which brings to mind that old nasty joke about not trusting anything that bleeds for a week and doesn't die.

I'm not sure how much this title has to do with the graces I'm listing today.

1. banana bread- I write about this a lot, I've realized. There must be something to it.

I think it's the instant feeling of competence, coupled with the comforting message that we won't starve, and that we're using up all the produce before it goes bad.

Plus, it makes my kitchen toasty-warm and peanut-butter-scented.
